Legal Jurisdiction 

Legal authority for local public health agencies is established in the California Health and Safety Code, Chapter 2, Sections 101100 – 101115, and the California Code of Regulations, Title 17, Section 1253.

Title 17, Section 1301 of the California Code of Regulations further mandates that: “public health nursing staff will be under the supervision of a Director of Public Health Nursing.”
